Welcome to MyNovel. These Terms and Conditions apply to the use of the MyNovel website, professional publishing services, Author Tools and other products or services offered through this website.

By accessing the website, purchasing a service or using a MyNovel Author Tool, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully.

1. General

• These terms apply to users of the MyNovel website, services and Author Tools.
• By accessing or using the website, you agree to comply with these terms.
• If you do not agree with these terms, you should not purchase or use the relevant service.
• MyNovel is based in South Africa and operates subject to applicable South African law.

2. Services Offered

MyNovel provides publishing and related services for independent authors and publishers, including but not limited to:

• Book and manuscript editing
• Book proofreading
• Book formatting for print, PDF and ePub
• Book cover design
• ISBN-related assistance
• ISBN barcode generation
• Book marketing and promotional material
• Publishing and Amazon KDP preparation support
• Manuscript evaluation and assessment
• Book blurb generation
• Book marketing content generation
• Book pricing and profit calculation tools
• ISBN validation
• Other MyNovel Author Tools and publishing utilities

Professional services are subject to availability, acceptance and the requirements of the individual project.

3. Quotes and Professional Services

• Quotes for professional MyNovel services are obligation-free unless otherwise stated.
• Quotes are based on the information and manuscript supplied at the time of assessment.
• Work normally begins only after written acceptance of the quotation and, where applicable, receipt of the required payment or deposit.
• Additional work requested after acceptance of a quotation may result in additional charges.
• Payment requirements and project timelines will be stated in the quotation, invoice or relevant service agreement.

4. Online Author Tools and Digital Services

MyNovel provides free and paid online Author Tools designed to assist independent authors with various publishing tasks.

Paid Author Tools may include services such as:

• Book blurb generation
• ISBN barcode generation
• Book marketing material generation
• Automated manuscript assessment
• Other digital publishing tools introduced by MyNovel

The price and description of each paid tool will be displayed before purchase.

Access to a paid Author Tool provides the purchaser with the right to use the purchased service in accordance with any generation, usage or time limits displayed on the relevant page.

5. Prices and Payment

Prices for online Author Tools and digital services are displayed on the relevant product or service page before payment.

Unless otherwise stated, prices displayed in South African Rand (ZAR) are the prices payable for the relevant service.

Online payments may be processed through Payfast or another approved payment service provider.

MyNovel does not directly store full debit-card or credit-card details submitted through a third-party payment provider.

A transaction is regarded as successfully paid only once payment confirmation has been received from the relevant payment processor.

6. Delivery of Digital Services

MyNovel Author Tools are digital services.

Where applicable, access to the purchased tool or generated output is provided electronically after successful payment has been confirmed.

No physical product is shipped when purchasing a digital Author Tool unless the relevant product description specifically states otherwise.

If payment is successfully completed but access is not provided because of a technical problem attributable to MyNovel, please contact us so that we can investigate and restore access or otherwise resolve the matter.

7. Refunds and Cancellations

Paid Author Tools and Digital Services

Because MyNovel Author Tools provide digital services that may generate results immediately, refunds will generally not be available once the purchased tool has been accessed, used or has generated its output, except where required by applicable law.

If a payment has been completed but a technical fault attributable to MyNovel prevents the purchased service from being provided, MyNovel may, as appropriate:

• Restore access to the purchased tool;
• Provide another opportunity to use the purchased service;
• Provide the purchased output by another reasonable method; or
• Arrange a refund where the purchased service cannot reasonably be supplied.

Professional Publishing Services

Refunds for editing, proofreading, formatting, cover design and other professional services depend on the stage of work already completed and the terms of the accepted quotation or agreement.

Work already completed may be deducted from any refundable amount.

Nothing in this section limits any rights a customer may have under applicable South African law.

8. Author Tool Usage

MyNovel Author Tools are provided for legitimate personal, author, publisher or authorised business use.

Users may not:

• Attempt to bypass payment requirements;
• Attempt to bypass usage or generation limits;
• Interfere with the security or operation of the website;
• Use automated systems to abuse or overload the tools;
• Attempt to obtain unauthorised access to MyNovel systems;
• Use the services for unlawful purposes.

MyNovel reserves the right to suspend or restrict access where there is reasonable evidence of fraud, abuse, unauthorised access or deliberate attempts to circumvent service restrictions.

9. Automated and AI-Assisted Outputs

Certain MyNovel Author Tools use automated or artificial-intelligence-assisted technology to analyse manuscript material or generate suggested content.

This may include:

• Book blurbs
• Alternative titles
• Marketing copy
• Promotional material
• Manuscript assessments
• Publishing recommendations

Automated and AI-assisted output is provided as writing, publishing or marketing assistance and should not be regarded as a substitute for the author's own judgement or professional editorial advice where such advice is required.

MyNovel does not guarantee that generated output will be:

• Completely error-free;
• Unique in every respect;
• Appropriate for every publishing purpose;
• Accepted by a publisher, retailer or publishing platform;
• Commercially successful; or
• Ready for publication without review.

Authors remain responsible for reviewing, editing and approving generated material before publication or commercial use.

10. Author Responsibility

Authors and users are responsible for ensuring that material submitted to MyNovel:

• Is their own work or is material they are legally authorised to use;
• Does not unlawfully infringe copyright, trademark or other intellectual property rights;
• Does not contain material that is unlawful to publish or distribute;
• Does not violate the rights of another person.

The author remains responsible for the accuracy of factual claims, specialist information, quotations, references and other content contained in the final publication.

11. Revisions

For professional publishing services, reasonable revisions may be included where specified in the relevant quotation or service agreement.

Major rewrites, substantial new material, structural alterations or additional work outside the original agreed scope may incur additional charges.

Automated Author Tool outputs do not include unlimited manual revision unless specifically stated on the relevant tool page.

12. Manuscript Confidentiality and Processing

Manuscripts and other client material submitted to MyNovel are treated as confidential and are used only as reasonably necessary to provide the requested service.

Where a service uses hosting, payment, security, automated processing or AI-assisted technology, information may need to be processed by trusted technology service providers for the purpose of delivering that service.

13. Copyright and Ownership

MyNovel does not claim ownership of manuscripts or other original material submitted by authors. The author or lawful rights holder retains copyright in their original work.

Purchasing an Author Tool or professional service does not transfer ownership of the MyNovel website, software, systems, templates, processes or other MyNovel intellectual property to the purchaser.

Unless otherwise stated, MyNovel website content, branding, original text, design elements and proprietary tools may not be copied, reproduced or redistributed without permission.

14. Limitation of Liability

MyNovel takes reasonable care when providing publishing services and Author Tools. However, final responsibility for reviewing and approving material before publication rests with the author.

MyNovel does not guarantee:

• Book sales or revenue;
• Bestseller status;
• Acceptance by publishers, retailers or distributors;
• Acceptance by Amazon KDP or another publishing platform;
• Search-engine rankings;
• Marketing performance;
• Reader reviews or public response;
• Commercial success.

Automated calculations, manuscript assessments, recommendations and generated content are provided as guidance and should be reviewed before important publishing or commercial decisions are made.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, MyNovel will not be liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from reliance on automated outputs or from decisions made by the author based on those outputs.

15. Third-Party Services

The MyNovel website may use or link to third-party services including payment processors, hosting providers, security services, publishing platforms and technology providers.

These third parties operate according to their own terms, policies and service conditions. MyNovel is not responsible for the operation or availability of independent third-party services.

16. Use of Website

You may not use the MyNovel website:

• For an unlawful purpose;
• To introduce malicious software or harmful code;
• To attempt unauthorised access to website systems;
• To interfere with the operation or security of the website;
• To reproduce proprietary MyNovel content without permission.

17. Privacy

Use of the MyNovel website and services is also subject to the MyNovel Privacy Policy.
